The theme of this year’s event in commemoration of the African Union Day is: Global Networking & Modern Economy.

AfricanTide Union e.V. is hosting the event for the in the 8th time this year. From May 24 to 26, representatives of the African diaspora communities will meet politicians and ambassadors, entrepreneurs and creative people in the Dortmund Town Hall. Together we will work on solutions to the major social challenges of our time in symposia, network events and workshops. The opportunities of Africa are explicitly in the foreground. Questions to combat the complex causes of flight are answered with economic solutions in the affected countries. Economically, Africa offers many opportunities for Africans and Europeans.

In many places, the economy has been growing for years, with domestic demand and the middle class continuing to develop. More and more investors are taking advantage of the numerous opportunities that exist on the continent.High-caliber guests promise exciting talks. The ambassadors of Nigeria and Zimbabwe and more, representatives of trade associations and chambers and the Dortmund city director Jörg Stüdemann have agreed to participate.

Traditionally, business lunch on the last day of the event serves as an intensive exchange for all participants. Cooperation’s and joint projects are agreed here.

A high-class cultural program accompanies the conference:

Vivian Timothy will show a selection of her works in the Dortmund town hall. Vivian Timothy creates colorful and metaphorical works with an unmistakably African accent. The artist shows African life worlds between tradition and modernity, between struggle and triumph, between old and new homeland.

In the oldest cinema in Dortmund, the Nigerian filmmaker Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen will introduce his film Invasion 1897. The audience can expect an action-packed journey into the shared past of West Africa and the UK.
