We need to develop a common value and human rights based strategies
The African continent offers great future potential, with half of the 20 fastest-growing economies in the continent. Already in 2017, 42 of the 54 African countries had higher economic growth than Germany, and in the coming decade more will be built in Africa’s metropolises than in the past century in Europe. Thus, by 2035, Africa will have the largest workforce potential in the world and will provide much in the global markets, customers and employees of the future.
Cooperation with strong African partner states is required to jointly manage the global challenges of the future. It is important to develop value and human rights-based strategies together to boost the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the African Union Agenda 2063 and to empower African people here in Europe as well as in Africa through the use of new technologies for the future and the development of new labour markets and economies.
Training fields to provide long-term perspectives and to ensure prosperity and good health care for all people. Only about 1,000 of the 3.5 million German companies are currently involved in Africa. A market entry into Africa for Germany as an exporting country and especially for our metropolis Rhein-Ruhr can offer good opportunities for cooperation.
The Dortmund region in particular, has developed into a leading service, research and technology location with much expertise in terms of successful structural change and could simultaneously research about the innovative power of the African technology start-up scene in knowledge transfer.
As the director of the city of Dortmund, innovation, knowledge transfer and a professional exchange with science, politics, business and civil society are very important to me. Therefore, I am pleased that AfricanTide Union e.V. has once again succeeded in bringing international African experts and the African Diaspora together in Dortmund. I trust that this idea will continue in the future as well.
I wish all participants an informative, constructive and inspiring conference, good luck for your further work on these global subjects and to all guests a pleasant stay in our beautiful city.
City director Dortmund
